NEWS: Alexis Hill’s Bid for the Democratic Nomination for Governor Buoyed by New Polling Showing Support Triples As Voters Learn More
‘Ford Is a Weak Frontrunner,’ Research Shows;
47% of Ford Supporters Say They Are Willing to Change Their Minds
Las Vegas, NV (Dec. 22, 2025) – In a recent poll of 555 Democratic primary voters, Alexis Hill demonstrated particularly strong viability as a Democratic candidate for Nevada Governor, with a 30-point positive swing as voters learned more about Hill’s experience and positions.
“The research reveals an electorate hungry for transformational change and deeply dissatisfied with the status quo,” wrote Change Research in a memo summarizing the poll’s results that was released to the public today. The survey was conducted December 11-18, 2025.
“Hill demonstrates significant persuasion potential,” the memo continued.
- Ford, twice elected statewide as attorney general, starts out with high name recognition, yet only 48% support him. Hill, an outsider challenger, begins with 13% support from Democratic primary voters (including leans), with 39% undecided.
- After voters read short biographies of both Hill and Ford, Hill’s support doubled to 26%, while Ford’s remained essentially unchanged (47%), with 27% still undecided.
- As voters learned more about both candidates’ backgrounds, records, and policy positions, Hill’s support grew to 43%, with Ford’s support falling to 28%, tied with undecided.
“This movement demonstrates that Hill’s background and story resonate with Democratic primary voters when they learn about her, while Ford appears to have limited room for growth beyond his current support level,” Change Research wrote. “[S]he demonstrates clear potential for growth, with support more than tripling as voters become informed about her background, platform, and vision.” And despite having been elected twice as state Attorney General and being well known, “Ford is a weak frontrunner,” they wrote.
Campaign Manager Cecia Alvarado said, “There is a clear path to victory for Alexis Hill. We see her message resonating with what we are hearing on the ground from voters we talk to every day who are tired of being ignored. This poll confirms that her message of change of challenging the corporate establishment of both parties is exactly where Nevada’s Democratic primary voters are. Nevadans are hungry for new leadership, and many are eager to elect the state’s first female governor. This campaign should be taken seriously by anyone watching this race.”
The poll also showed strong alignment between Hill’s core campaign themes and Democratic primary voter concerns, with 87% saying they want to elect a governor who will fight to change the status quo and take on billionaires, big corporations, and the establishment to make Nevada work for working families. Only 7% prefer a governor who will work within the system and avoid dramatic changes. Democratic primary voters also expressed significant dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. Nearly two-thirds (64%) report feeling frustrated (47%) or angry (17%) with the Nevada government.
